Frequently Asked Questions:
1)Q. How can I place an order for the Camera Canopy™?
A. You may only place your order online via the PURCHASE page.
2)Q. What if I change my mind after placing the online order?
-A. You may email us at returnrequest@cameracanopy.com. As long as your order has not already shipped, we will cancel it and refund your purchase price. Once the order has shipped you will need to email us for a RETURN AUTHORIZATION and you will be responsible for the return shipping charges.
3)Q. Will your device fit on my camera?
A.Both The Original Camera Canopy and the Mini Camera Canopy will fit ANY camera with a hot shoe connection.
4)Q. Is assembly required?
A. The Camera Canopy comes fully assembled and ready to use. You may attach the included Rear Tripod Shield if you wish.
5) Q. Should my Camera Canopy move when it is attached to my camera?
A. No. When correctly mounted, there will be no movement. Mounting instructions for both Camera Canopy and Mini Camera Canopy are exactly the same. For your convenience, there is a very brief video demonstration at the bottom of this page. We strongly suggest you take advantage of this visual demonstration.
6)Q.What are the Camera Canopy specs?
A. The whole unit weighs just over two (2) pounds. The dimensions, in the standard position are 14"L X 11"W X 4"H . When fully extended, 18" L. When the Rear Tripod Shield is attached, the entire unit, fully extended, 21". The Mini Camera Canopy specs can be found on the "Mirrorless" page.
7)Q. Is Camera Canopy effective in all types of rain?
A. We want to be upfront about the limitations of our product. In wind driven, heavy downpours both Camera Canopy and Mini Camera Canopy will provide only partial protection. Both Camera Canopy configurations are effective under normal rain conditions . The camera should be held horizontally, which will allow you to view and adjust your settings through the clear shield. When using a tripod, Camera Canopy's Rear Tripod Shield will offer additional back of camera protection. FYI - although the rear shield has been specifically designed for tripod use, we have had customers tell us that they like using it when hand holding the camera because it keeps their eyeglasses dry while they are shooting!
8)Q. Will the back of the camera get wet?
A. There is a slight overhang which provides protection during shooting when using the Camera Canopy without the Rear Tripod Shield. (The rear shield provides even more - please see Question 7 above)
Naturally, the camera must be maintained in a horizontal position at all times whether hand held or tripod affixed, with or without the Rear Tripod Shield employed, to be effective. Again, please see Question 7 above.
)Q. Is anything else included with my purchase?
A. Both configurations of Camera Canopy will arrive with the Rear Tripod Shield, Use and Care instructions as well as a drawstring backpack/carry bag.
10)Q. What if I need a replacement part?
A. In the unlikely event that you need something replaced, you may contact us at:
replacements@cameracanopy.com
Please use the words "Replacement Needed" somewhere in the subject. We will get back to you asap.
11)Q. What type of payment do you accept?
A. We accept PAYPAL and all major credit cards.
12)Q. Can I purchase the Mini Camera Canopy version for my DSLR camera?
A. Absolutely, Yes! Remember that your (zoom ) lens coverage would be limited to the Mini Camera Canopy's twelve inch (12") length from the back of the camera. If that is not a problem for you, then go with the smaller, less expensive version. You could always purchase the Extendable/Retractable Shield Kit later on if you find you need longer lens length protection.
13)Q. I purchased the (early 2019) original Camera Canopy. I see you have since added an additional piece to the configuration. Do I need to purchase this Rear Tripod Shield?
A. The Rear Tripod Shield was born out of the requests from some customers. Many wildlife, landscape and sports photography enthusiasts like to set up their cameras on a tripod. They wanted a bit more back of camera coverage than the original Camera Canopy configuration offered. If you feel that you need that coverage as well, then the Rear Tripod Shield is for you. (*Please contact Rita at rita@cameracanopy.com to place an order for the Rear Tripod Shield-it no longer appears on the Purchase page*). If you find that additional back of camera protection is not an issue, then you can pass on it.
14)Q. I would like to use my flash while using the Camera Canopy. Is this possible?
A. Absolutely YES! For under $20.00 and available on many sites, all you need to do is use a flash bracket and a sync chord.
Your flash will sit on the "cold shoe" of the bracket. Then simply attach the sync chord to your flash and you are set!
